Morgan Hill police invite residents to an evening of mingling with officers while enjoying live music, ice cream, face painting, games and prizes at the National Night Out.
The event will take place Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Third Street Promenade. All residents are invited.
Residents will have the chance to meet Morgan Hill officers and Santa Clara County firefighters, learn more about South County’s SWAT team, and get an up-close look at police patrol vehicles, according to a press release from Morgan Hill police.
The Fast Lane Band will perform live entertainment.
The National Night Out also includes an “old fashioned ice cream social,” face painting, and other fun and games including prizes and giveaways.
The 29th annual National Night Out is designed to encourage drug and crime prevention awareness by bringing together public safety personnel and agencies with neighborhood residents, businesses and civic groups, according to the National Night Out website.
Another purpose of the event is to “send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back,” according to the website.
Last year, more than 15,000 communities nationwide celebrated the National Night Out.
