Cougars drop season opener to Soquel
A big third inning for Soquel spoiled the season opener for Christopher.
The Knights posted third runs in the bottom of the fourth, which helped them to a 7-4 win over Christopher on the road Wednesday.
The Cougars took an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first. Soquel answered and tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning.
Christopher regained the lead with a run in the top of the second, which put it ahead 3-2.
But its lead would be short lived.
The Knights recorded four runs in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fourth. The Cougars were unable to answer until the top of the seventh when they scored their final run of the game.
Makaio Duyao led the Cougars at the plate, finishing 1 for 4 with two RBIs and a double. Brian Easton went 1 for 2 with an RBI, while Anthony Rodriguez was 1 for 3 with a run and a walk. Mike Sanchez scored a run and was walked and Darren Santos was 1 for 2 with a run scored.
Andreu Bartholic was handed the loss. He allowed six runs on three hits in three and two-thirds innings. He also walked three.
Troy Miller led the Knights with a two-run homer.
Christopher will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Pioneer.
