SOCCER: Johnson, Rams victorious in season opener

In head coach Justin Johnson’s debut at the helm, the Gavilan College men’s soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit in an eventual 2-1 triumph over Shasta College on Wednesday in Redding.

A pair of second-half tallies from Anthony Velazquez spearheaded the comeback victory.

The Rams continue non-conference action versus Butte College on Thursday.
