FRIDAY ROUNDUP: Softball, baseball and volleyball

Christopher High's softball team made it three victories in its last four outings with a 2-0 nod over visiting Aptos on Friday.

Each week we recognize one area male and female athlete for their performances on the field of play. This week's are:

Prep Soccer: Live Oak edges Christopher 1-0

GILROY—Christopher and Live Oak got one last game in before breaking for the holidays and they made it count.

Prep Roundup: Nov. 19

The Christopher girls basketball team is on a roll. The Cougar won their third straight, a 46-30 win over Soledad Wednesday at home. Cydney Caradonna led her team once again, putting up 15 points in the game. Dejah Rajah Raoof and Ally Foster both scored eight.  Christopher (5-2) will play Eastside College Preparatory School at 4 p.m. Saturday at Presentation High.  Mustangs fall to Gunderson The Gilroy girls basketball team lost it's second straight game, falling 48-28 to Gunderson on the road Wednesday. The Mustangs (3-3) will have a long break before returning to action at 7 p.m. Jan. 3 to play at Carmel.  BOYS BASKETBALL Bob Hagen Tournament kicks off today The 34th Annual Gilroy High School Bob Hagen Memorial Boys Basketball Tournament tips off today at GHS.  Morgan Hill's Live Oak and Oakwood will open the tournament at 3:30 p.m., followed by Christopher vs. Aptos at 5 p.m. Gilroy will square off against Anzar at 6:30 p.m. and Day 1 will conclude with Gunderson playing Harbor at 8 p.m. Check back with us for stories and bracket updates as the tournament progresses. 

Football: Balers cruise past Christopher

On its first play from scrimmage, San Benito found the end zone when Hunter Raquet hooked up with Adam Mendoza for a 22-yard touchdown. That pretty much summed up the Haybalers’ 45-0 win over Christopher Friday in a Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division contest.

Christopher falls in tight game to MVC

Christopher had its chances against Monte Vista Christian, but ultimately fell 2-1 in a well-pitched game on Thursday.

Prep Roundup: Sept. 28

Christopher field hockey shut down Carmel 6-0 Wednesday at home. The win was the fifth straight for the Cougars.

Prep Football: Gilroy, Christopher break bread before Severance Bowl

GILROY — On Wednesday night there were no Cougars or Mustangs, just neighbors and friends.

Baseball Roundup: Gallardo, Mustangs go to 15-0 in MBL with rout of Alvarez

Jalynd Gallardo pitched a complete game as Gilroy High’s baseball team rolled to a 14-2 win at Everett Alvarez on Friday.

MONDAY ROUNDUP: CHS baseball, golf and GHS softball victorious

Anchored by Brian Ransom's complete game, three-hit gem on the mound, the Christopher High baseball team took down Monte Vista Christian 3-1 in a key Monterey Bay League matchup Monday in Watsonville.
