Gilroy High’s wrestling team rode seven pins to a 61-15 home win over Monterey on Wednesday night as the host Mustangs celebrated Alumni Night.

WATSONVILLE The Monte Vista Christian School football team delivered a defensive stand on visiting Gilroy’s final drive to seal a 23-19 nonleague victory on Friday night. 

The Monterey Bay League honored 14 Gilroy-area football players with All-Gabilan and All-Pacific Division awards that were announced over the weekend.

Gilroy girls tennis snapped a four-game losing streak after beating Watsonville 6-1 Tuesday at home.

Gilroy snapped a two-game losing streak with a big 47-40 win over Yerba Buena Friday on the road.

Gilroy dominated the last set 15-5 to win the match 3-2 on senior night.

GILROY—Christopher’s Natalie Gutierrez earned match medalist honors numerous times over the season and now the Cougar can add another accolade to her collection: being named First Team All-League in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division.

Christopher’s Maraya Carmona and Gilroy’s Megan Nebesnik won individual titles in the Central Coast Section Girls Wrestling Championships on Saturday night at Oak Grove High in San Jose.

Christopher High’s boys tennis team dominated on its way to a 7-0 win at Alisal on Tuesday.
