After suffering a heartbreaking loss a week ago at Seaside, Gilroy needed to make a statement against Watsonville to stay relevant in the Pacific Division picture.

Gilroy High’s softball team won a rivalry game against visiting Christopher on Thursday, 3-2 in nine innings.

Gilroy High senior track and field star Samantha Una’Dia broke school records on consecutive days Friday and Saturday in the 300-meter hurdles, and set a school record in the 100 hurdles Friday.

ROUNDUP: Late 3-pointer sinks Gavilan

Behind Scott Taylor and Derek Jensen's timely, sharp shooting, the Gavilan College men's basketball team orchestrated a second-half comeback from down by 13 with 12 minutes left to up by two and on the verge of Coast Conference victory No. 1 against visiting Hartnell on Friday night. However, an unfathomable 3-pointer and a pair of Panthers free throws carried Hartnell to a 76-73 win over the Rams.

BASEBALL: Christopher edges Seaside in extras

Nick Cordova delivered the game-winning hit to catapult the Christopher High baseball team beyond host Seaside 6-5 in extra innings Wednesday.

FOOTBALL: Gavilan looking to get back on track Saturday

Last week's loss at Shasta College did not sit well with Gavilan College football players, especially since the Rams felt as though they let themselves down. To them, it wasn't so much what their opponent did, it was what they didn't do leading up to the road tilt.
