Despite facing a juggernaut in San Benito, the Christopher High boys and girls swim teams held their own against the Balers on Wednesday in Hollister.
Though both squads lost 130-27, personal-best times were achieved.
“We are very happy with the effort the swimmers are putting in at work out,” CHS head coach Jeffery Ross said.
Anna Higginbotham’s 57.4 second sprint in the 100-meter freestyle and Marga Garcia 26.67 in the 50 free gave them first place in those events.
Matt Higginbotham won the 200 individual medley in two minutes, 26.19 seconds, which goes down as a school record.
The girls 200-free relay narrowly missed a Central Coast Section qualifying time, missing out by a mere three seconds (1:51.1.) though the time gave the relay team first in the event.
“They should get (the CCS time) by the end of the season,” Ross said.
