After staking out a stolen vehicle outside a Morgan Hill hotel, officers arrested three suspects on suspicion of counterfeit currency and controlled substance violations, police said.
About 12:08 a.m. Monday, Morgan Hill officers located a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Executive Inn, 16505 Condit Road, according to a press release from Morgan Hill police.
After a short surveillance on the stolen vehicle, officers saw a man enter the car and back it into another parking space. Police contacted the man, later identified as George Haro, 26 of San Jose, police said.
Officers were notified by the dispatch center that Haro had an active felony “parolee at large” warrant for his arrest, police said. Haro was detained without incident.
Meanwhile another man, later identified as Steven Spille, 28 of Santa Cruz, attempted to flee the hotel when police arrived, authorities said. Officers later detained Spille a short distance away on Condit Road. He was seen trying to destroy drug paraphernalia.
A third suspect – later identified as Staci Potter, 25 of San Jose – was located by officers in a hotel room that was associated to the stolen vehicle, police said.
Upon investigation, officers found a “large amount” of counterfeit U.S. currency in Potter’s possession, police said.
All three suspects were allegedly under the influence of an unspecified controlled substance, and transported to the Morgan Hill police station for booking.
Police later learned that Spille and Potter were wanted for similar criminal activity in neighboring counties, police said.
