A two-car accident at Leavesley and Monterey roads Sunday evening only caused minor injuries, although it appeared more serious at first, according to police.

Both cars involved in the 9:14 p.m. accident received moderate to major damage, Sgt. Chad Gallacinao said. However, the only person who required hospitalization was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with minor injuries, he said.

At first, the accident sounded far worse with dispatchers receiving reports that someone had been ejected following the crash, but that turned out not to be the case, Gallacinao said.

Emergency personnel were mostly done clearing the scene by 10:30 p.m. Some delays resulted from a fire engine that was temporarily stuck in the intersection, Gallacinao said.
