Panzanella makes a wonderful summer lunch

I sacrificed my garden this year due to the drought and now I need to obtain summer tomatoes either at a farmers market or from someone I know. I was very fortunate when my dad gifted me with a few tomatoes he grew. For this week’s recipe, I share how I used the tomatoes along with making use of

Tackling Tallac

May I please have a show of hands—How many of you would like to take a couple precious vacation days, arrange accommodations, drive four-plus hours to Lake Tahoe, so you can climb 3,300 feet up a steep and grueling five-mile (each way) trail to the top of a 9,735-foot peak?

New font could change the world

The other day it occurred to me that I could solve the world’s problems with one invention. I’m talking ALL of the world’s problems. OK, maybe not every single one. Possibly, we can exclude world hunger from the list of things I can solve. And world peace may be too lofty a goal for me. And I may not cure any diseases. Changing lives one spoke at a time

One of the most exciting things I've heard this year is happening in Gilroy this week. Originally planned as a donation drive to collect gently used bicycles this Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Spokes4Folks found that the response to the idea of donating bikes to give to folks in need of transportation picked up speed quickly. In light of such a tremendous outpouring of compassion, the volunteer group has had to start giving away bikes earlier than planned. What a good problem to have!
