Dear Editor:

In response to Mr. E. Gonzalez’s opinion of Wal-Mart:

Mr. Gonzalez you obviously forgot to listen well in school, before you do a presentation you need facts, not fiction.

If you did your homework you would have found out all about Wal-Mart benefits and the many contributions it has to offer associates and its community. If you log on to the Internet and look under Wal-Mart employment you find something real interesting. Your tax dollars are not paying for Wal-Mart associates benefits.

Just like you I am a taxpayer, in fact, come to think about it I have yet to meet too many people who are not paying taxes. Wal-Mart offers medical, dental, life, accidental death insurance as well as stock, profit sharing, and 401k to their associates – oh and it gets better. Wal-Mart not only assist in these programs but other programs for associates and associate children … log on. But does it stop there – no, no, no. This Wal-Mart in Gilroy has given to schools in this community (call around find out who and how much), it gave money to the Chamber of Commerce for its “Leadership Program”, they gave money to Rebekah Childrens Services, Walton Foundation Teacher of the Year, Community Solutions, St. Joseph Center, New Hope Community Church, Gilroy Police Explorers, Gilroy Police Gang Task Force, Kids Discover Art, Gilroy Fire Department. This list, sir, just keeps growing. So in the future – just before you insert foot in mouth – do your homework.
