All student-athletes, parents invited to special collegiate
recruiting seminar at GHS.
GILROY – The Gilroy High Athletic Dept. will present a free seminar Wednesday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. to help educate student-athletes on the collegiate recruiting process with nationally known motivational speaker and author Rick Wire.
All student-athletes in grades 8 through 12 and parents are invited to attend the program – which was developed by Wire to help his son Coy succeed in academics, athletics and life. Coy received a football scholarship to Stanford University and then was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 3rd round of the 2002 NFL Draft.
The program is designed to improve your chances of being recruited, learn training secrets that best prepare you for college athletics, find out what it takes to earn an athletic scholarship, learn how to ‘market’ yourself to college coaches, and understand the academic requirements you need to play in college.
According to Wire, 70 percent of all athletic opportunities are at D-III, NAIA, and junior college. This event will provide the information needed to make knowledgeable decisions and choices.
For more information call Jack Daley at 848-7178. There will also be a book available after the event that will help guide you.
During his presentation, Wire will address the following and more:
•Keeping the student-athlete on track academically
•Determining your ability level
•Preparing mentally and physically for college athletics
•Marketing the student-athlete with college coaches
Wire is considered an expert in the field of athletic scholarships and the recruiting process. He has been the premiere speaker at Athletic Director Conferences as well as speaking at Nike athletic camps, college camps, and high schools all over the country. Today, Wire continues his 5th year of spreading his wealth of knowledge to families and high schools. When he steps into a high school or college campus, he believes he is changing the lives of everyone there.
