An elderly woman apparently drowned in a pool at the Residence Inn on Madrone Parkway Monday afternoon.

Police responded to two reports at 5 p.m. that the woman, who was pulled out of the pool, had drowned. It was not clear at press time if it was a guest or hotel employee who called police.

Paramedics were also called, and attempts were made to resuscitate the woman, but they were unsuccessful.

The manager on duty at the time said through a receptionist that he was busy and could not talk, and referred questions to the police.

Officers are investigating the incident. Additional information was unavailable late Monday.

The Residence Inn is located in the business park on Madrone Parkway in north Morgan Hill.
