Samantha Nydam led Gavilan with 11 kills, helping it to a 3-0 sweep of Ohlone Friday at home. 
The Rams won 25-22, 22-13, 22-19 over the Renegades to win their second straight. The win puts Gavilan back at .500 on the season—it’s 11-11 overall—and gives it a 5-4 conference record.
Kendall Campbell and Ryan Asp each added seven kills and Alexia Balistreri chipped in with six. 
Lissette Pedraza led in assists with 18 and added 12 digs. Daisy Valladares had 21 digs, five assists and an ace for Gavilan. 
The Rams have just three games left in the regular season. They will play at 6:30 p.m. at West Valley College Wednesday.

Gavilan drops two at Las Positas tourney
Gavilan came within one point of notching its first win of the season, falling 75-74 to Siskiyous at the Las Positas Tournament Friday in Livermore. 
The Rams opened the tournament with an 80-67 loss to tournament host Las Positas on Thursday, despite leading 40-35 at halftime.
RJ Collins led the team against Siskiyous, recording 16 points in the game. He went 5 for 13 from the field and made four of his 12 3-point attempts. Collins also had five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Nick Bradley put up 13 points against Siskiyous and was 6 for 9 from the field. Robbie Skinner added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. 
Bradley put up 16 points against Las Positas in the season opener. He was 6 for 9 from the field and 4 for 5 from the 3-point line. Bradley also added four assists and a steal for the Rams. 
Albert Medrano had 13 points for Gavilan against the tournament hosts, while Skinner and Collins each added 12. 
Gavilan (0-2) will be back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Merced College.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Rams lose to Contra Costa, Las Positas
The Gavilan women’s basketball team opened its season with two losses at the Mission College Tournament Friday and Saturday. 
The Rams dropped their season opener, 74-57, to Contra Costa on Friday, despite stellar performances from Felicia Lee-Cardenas and Brittany Valdez. 
Both Lee-Cardenas and Valdez posted 17 points against Contra Costa. Valdez added 10 rebounds, two assists and a steal. She also nailed two 3-pointers in the game. Lee-Cardenas had seven assists and two assists for Gavilan. 
Natalia Armstrong chipped in with 12 points and four rebounds.
Armstrong led the team in scoring against Las Positas, accounting for 11 of Gavilan’s points. She added six rebounds, an assist and a steal. 
Lee-Cardenas put up eight points against Las Positas in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Kelsey Caudill had five points, seven rebounds and three steals for Gavilan.
The Rams (0-2) will be back in action at 5 p.m. Wednesday when they play host to Reedley College. 
MEN’S SOCCER
Rams fall to Chabot
Heading into Friday’s game, Gavilan hadn’t scored a goal in six contests. The Rams finally broke that streak, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.
Gavilan fell to Chabot 4-1 in its home finale.
The visitors scored all four goals in the first and the Rams answered with one of their own before the break.

The Rams (2-13-3 overall, 1-9-1 in conference) have just two games left in the regular season. They will play at 3 p.m. at West Valley Tuesday and close things out with Monterey Peninsula at 3 p.m. Friday in Monterey.
