Marilyn M. Roascio

Marilyn Roascio, age 72 years, passed away at Gilroy Health Care last Thursday. Marilyn has been a resident of San Benito County for the past 65 years. She was a graduate of San Benito High School, a member of Old Mission San Juan Bautista and owned and operated Mom and Pops Saloon in San Juan Bautista for nearly 40 years. Marilyn was very community spirited and always willing to help those in need by holding benefits at her "Tavern". She loved her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed being with her many friends. Marilyn is survived by her children, Ryan Roascio (Holly) and Rhonda Roascio of Hollister, and Ronald Cullumber (Jackie) of Missouri; her grandsons, Vince, Brandon, Greg, Evan, Jason, Christopher and Daniel, her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Madylin. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Pearl E. O’Donnell

Pearl E. O'Donnell passed away at Mabie Skilled Nursing Center Southside on Friday, December 15th, at the age of 93 years. Pearl was a native of Aromas, CA and had lived in San Benito County since 1936. She was a graduate of Watsonville High School; San Benito Junior College; as well as Healds Business College. Pearl was Past President of Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxillary, the Sacred Heart Mother's Club, and the Bolado Park Ladies Golf Club. She was a member of the American Field Service; Children's Services of Monterey and San Benito Counties; San Benito Historical Society, Sacred Heart Altar Society; Ridgemark Ladies Golf Club, and the Y.L.I. of Hollister. Pearl was the Elections Clerk for San Benito County from 1954 until 1974. She is survived by her husband John L. "Jack" O'Donnell ; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Margaret O'Donnell; daughter Kathleen O"Donnell; sister-in-law Pat O'Donnell; brother-in-law James Paxton all of Hollister; and grandchildren Patrick O'Donnell of Hollister, John and Bethany O'Donnell of Brentwood, CA.

Aurora Conrique Torres

Aurora C. Torres, aged 88 years, passed away in Hollister on Saturday, June 16th.

Joe C. Sandoval

Previous resident of Hollister passed away in his home at Sun City, AZ. He is survived by his children Joseph, Joby, Robert, 8 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren, his wife's children, Sonja, Karla, their 5 children, and 4 great grandchildren, his brothers Ted, John, Fred, Sammy, and sisters; Suzie, Emma, Dora, and Mary Lydia. He is preceded in death by his brother Domicindo, sisters Lucy, Mary Rose and Joe's second wife Joyce.

Virginia Flores Lopez

Virginia passed away at her home in Salinas Saturday, April 19, 2008. She was the wife of the late Luis Lopez and mother of Raul Lopez of Salinas, Gary Lopez of Houston, TX, Janet Elias of Merced, CA and Adriana Lopez Hall of Fresno, CA. Virginia was a grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of 3. She was a sister of Teresa Rembao, Rosalia Urioste both of Santa Cruz, CA and the late Blasa Flores, Juana Balcorta, Eduardo Flores, Berardo Flores, Roberto Flores, Linda Ochoa, Ysidro Flores.

RubyNell Hendon

RubyNell Owen was born in Alabama to Beatrice and Charles Melvin on April 1, 1918. She grew up one of five girls and a little brother, Bill, blessed her family when she was 18 years old. She married Dennis Hendon in 1939, moved to California and lived in various cities, pastoring several churches. In 1962 they settled in Torrance where they pastored Crenshaw Baptist Church for 26 years. She loved being a preacher's wife, providing love, support and fantastic food to church members, her husband and her family. She went to heaven on October 28 in Morgan Hill, CA. She is survived by 2 sons, Gerald Dennis (Sandra) of Houston, TX, Steven Owen of Mesa, AZ, 1 daughter Deana Marie (Paul) of Morgan Hill, CA, 1 grandson Austin Dennis of Houston, TX, 3 granddaughters Denise Hendon of Torrance, CA, Beverly Candia of Lake Elsinore, CA, Autumn Lois Hendon of Dallas, TX, 1 great-grandson Daniel Candia, Jr. and 1 brother William Owen of Fultondale, AL.

Marie L. Day

At rest in Redwood City on Oct. 25, 2011. Marie passed on peacefully with her family beside her.

Erin Furtado July 27, 1983 – February 7, 2015

A visitation will begin 1:00 P.M., followed by a vigil service at 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 16, 2015, at Habing Family Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will begin 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to St. Mary’s Catholic Ladies.

Joseph “Peter” Sutti

Joseph "Peter" Sutti, long time resident of San Juan Bautista, died November 5 in Santa Rosa at the age of 81. Pete was a member of The Veterans #359. He served on the SJB City Council, Police Commissioner of SJB, and worked for Ideal Cement Co. for 32 years. He served on the SJB Fiesta Rodeo Comittee for many years. He is survived by his wife Teresa of Santa Rosa, his son Steve Sutti of SJB, daughter Dawn Sutti of San Francisco, three grandchildren, Audra Sutti Edge, Brian Sutti, and Nathan Sutti, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Brent Sutti. Private interment will be held in Santa Rosa, CA. Any donations should go to the American Cancer Society.
