Gervis Azevedo passed away peacefully on September 29, 2009, in Anderson, CA. She was born in Cullman, AL. She came to CA as a teenager and lived for 33 years in Morgan Hill. She is survived by her husband, George F. Azevedo Sr. She will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., both at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey St., Morgan Hill. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Memorial Park in Morgan Hill.
Julian Macias, of Gilroy, CA passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2009, surrounded by his family. Mr. Macias is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elvira Macias, sons Benito (Paula Alejo) Macias, Manuel (Ilana) Macias, Belem (Eduardo) Rodriquez, Reyna Pichardo, Beatriz and Petra Macias, 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Julian Macias first arrived in Morgan Hill in 1973 and soon thereafter moved to Gilroy where he made his home.
A resident of his beloved Hiouchi, CA, Spencer T. Parker was born in Morgan Hill, CA on August 10, 1929 and passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009 in Crescent City, CA.
Jose Ramirez Rivera "Joe", of Lathrop, CA, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2009. Joe was born in Mesilla, NM, on March 18, 1949, to Luz and Santos Rivera. Joe was raised in Morgan Hill and graduated from Live Oak High School where he participated in basketball and track and field. Joe was a United States Army Vietnam era veteran and was a paratrooper who earned his wings as a specialist E-4. Joe received an honorable discharge for his service to his country. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Rivera and four sons, Joe Rivera of Lathrop, Alexis Rivera of Lathrop, Amador Rivera of Lathrop and Anthony Garcia and his wife Senna of Hayward, CA. He was a great husband and an awesome dad who had his sons involved in football, basketball, baseball and martial arts. His favorite sport was basketball and he loved to go fishing in his spare time. He was a huge Giants, Warriors and 49ers fan and enjoyed watching and listening to games. Family and friends are invited to services for Joe on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Memorial Park, Morgan Hill.
Harry F. Skibbins passed away Tuesday afternoon at the age of 85 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. Born in Chicago, Illinois, having lived in California for the past 40 years. Harry had been a sales manager for Prudential Insurance for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a radio operator on a B24 in the South Pacific.
