Gilroy High’s wrestling program will host its third annual Alumni Night event at 5 p.m. Wednesday, as the event will coincide with the Mustangs’ home dual meet against Monterey.
Gilroy High fills a pair of coaching vacancies
It has been a busy six months on the coach-search front at Gilroy High School. Vacancies have popped up at a dandelion-like rate with coaches leaving posts for a variety of reasons. But with the fall season fast approaching, GHS filled two coaching voids, hiring Kassi Swalboski for girls varsity volleyball and Tim Jones for boys varsity basketball, athletic director Julie Berggren said Tuesday.

Allison Foster is an explosive leaper in volleyball and basketball. The Christopher High outside hitter and forward would be one of the most accomplished athletes in the school even if she limited herself to two sports.

For nearly six innings, San Benito was far from the team that’s expected to challenge for a Central Coast Section title Monday against Gilroy. In the only game this year against rival Mustangs, the Balers couldn’t find a way inside the strike zone – walking eight batters – and couldn’t take advantage of their offensive opportunities.
