The Christopher girls golf team was holding its breath as the final scores were tallied. A collective sigh of relief could be heard as the Cougars (6-0) won their closest match of the year, a 283-290 win over Salinas at home Monday. Christopher Natalie Gutierrez and Salinas High's Madison Chapman tied for medalist honors, both shooting a 47. Gutierrez and Chapman both had multiple pars in the match. Nina Velez shot a 54 for the Cougars, while Alex Granados shot a personal best of 57.  Christopher will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific Grove.  

Things are getting any easier for the Gilroy girls soccer team.

GILROY — Gilroy coach Greg Varela has always trained his wrestlers to beat the No. 1 ranked opponent.

Gilroy's Taylor Silacci was hard at work Wednesday, helping her team stay undefeated.

Efren Pineda scored on an assist from Andres Jimenez to help Gilroy High’s boys soccer team to a 1-1 tie at Alisal on Thursday night.

Brook Loesch went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, but Christopher High’s softball team suffered a 12-2, six-inning loss at Wilcox on Tuesday.
