GILROY—The big swings from Ally Foster and Olivia Tabron had Christopher fans going wild, but there was another Cougar in the middle that made her presence known Tuesday night: Khaya Price.

Prep Roundup: Oct. 1

The Christopher girls golf team was holding its breath as the final scores were tallied. A collective sigh of relief could be heard as the Cougars (6-0) won their closest match of the year, a 283-290 win over Salinas at home Monday. Christopher Natalie Gutierrez and Salinas High's Madison Chapman tied for medalist honors, both shooting a 47. Gutierrez and Chapman both had multiple pars in the match. Nina Velez shot a 54 for the Cougars, while Alex Granados shot a personal best of 57.  Christopher will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pacific Grove.  

Wrestling: Lopez wins title, helps CHS take 12th at Overfelt Classic

Christopher High wrestler Jimmie Lopez won the 108-pound title in the 49th Overfelt Classic on Saturday in San Jose.

GILROY—Christopher and Monte Vista Christian needed an extra quarter to decide the winner of Friday’s heated league contest. But it was the Mustangs who came out on top, handing the Cougars a heartbreaking 78-71 overtime loss at Christopher High.
