‘Little Women’: Visit with an old friend

Louisa Mae Alcott's “Little Women” has never been out of print since it was first published in 1868. It was translated into a least a dozen foreign languages during Alcott's life and can now be found in 50 different languages including Bengali, Chinese, Indonesian and Urdu.

A recipe for your holiday leftovers

The main goal of advertising is to entice you to purchase a specific product. In order to increase your purchase of said product, recipes are often listed on the label. In a different move, Unilever, the manufacturer of Best Foods Mayonnaise—known as Hellmann’s east of the Rocky Mountains—cross promotes its product with a commercial for a recipe. This week, I feature the recipe currently being promoted just in time to make use of your Thanksgiving leftovers.

Events celebrate ‘Christmas spirit’

The holiday shopping season has certainly begun, judging from the decorations seen in local stores and the sales being advertised. However, this is not the “Christmas season” itself because, according to the traditional Christian calendar, that begins on Dec. 25 and continues through Jan. 5 (the famous “12 Days of Christmas”).
