Christopher High goalkeeper Carlos Arroyo isn’t surprised to see his Cougars pile up shutout victories this season.
The good news first: The Christopher High girls varsity basketball team picked up a 55-50 victory over perennial section power North Salinas on the road Tuesday night. The not as good news: The Cougars led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter before being outscored 23-9 in the fourth and forced to hold on for the five-point win. Either way it's dissected, though, the Cougars weathered the storm and moved to 6-2 this season after their fourth straight triumph.
As hosts of the 26th annual Mustangs Classic, the Gilroy High girls varsity basketball team did well to advance to the finals with victories against Santa Catalina and Watsonville.
GILROY — On Wednesday night there were no Cougars or Mustangs, just neighbors and friends.
For the sixth time in a row, Christopher rang the Severance Bell after defeating Gilroy 27-13 Friday night in the season opener.
The Christopher High softball team took another step forward in distancing itself from the rest of the Monterey Bay League on Tuesday, swinging past Seaside 13-3 to improve to 5-0 in league action.
